On going to video the rally against sanctions called by Havaar on July 21 in New York, my camera operator and I went to the took refuge from the 96 degree heat inside the United Nations building itself.  Needing to kill a little time we decided to visit the Chagall window.  It’s a beauty indeed and probably has a lot of hidden symbols inside.

Turning away we spied  a bronze bust of Count Folke Bernadotte, the first UN mediator, a man who had saved thousands of Jews and others during the war as head of the Swedish Red Cross.  He had been murdered by a fanatic Zionist group in 1948.

The coincidence was that the man who most likely ordered Bernadotte’s assassination, Yitzhak Shamir, the two time Israeli Prime Minister, had just died the night before.

Read about the late Mr. Shamir by clicking here. and scrolling the headlines to July 1.
